​Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that of Pentecost. This outpouring impresses on the soul an indelible character and produces a growth in the grace of Baptism. It roots the recipient more deeply in divine sonship, binds him more firmly to Christ and to the Church and reinvigorates the gifts of the Holy Spirit in his soul. Among the many misconceptions about the Sacrament of Confirmation, the greatest is to see it as a “graduation” from religious education and the definitive onset of Christian adulthood. Formation as a disciple and student of Jesus never ends. Moreover, Sacraments give us the grace required to grow in Christian maturity. 

Our preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a program that takes place after a family/household is regularly participating in our community’s Sunday liturgy and family-based faith formation modules. In our diocese, it traditionally is done in one’s teenage years between 6th and 8th grade.
